Monterey and a Mini Maximum Welcome

On the way out of Napa we had to go to one more winery before motoring to Monterey. It was only natural that we decided on the Plumpjack Winery for a morning tasting. Timing was everything as the cabernet was no longer avalable for a tasting AFTER we finished our tasting. It was a great setting wiith hummingbirds and Plumpjack in Oakville. Then on to Napa where we made a brief stop. Unfortunately Napa the City was just too commercial for our tastes.

The trek to Monterey on the 101 was unfortunately eventful as we learned at our hotel in Monterey that the hour delay was due to an overturned semi. He should have been driving a Mini and he would have made it safely.

After checking in at the Mini desk with Susan from Mini in New Jersey we attended a reception and dinner at the President's House at the Hyatt. We were able to visit with some spectacular Mini persons including Dr.Kay and Edith Segler and their two sons. Dr. Segler is world-wide VP of Brand Management at Mini.

Jim McDowell, head of Mini North America was in charge of the reception.

The new Mini owners were talking about their new car. Everyone wanted to know where they were keeping the Mini Cooper S JCW GP. Tomorrow a bus will take us to Laguna Seca for the handing over of the keys. Look for Number 48 on the Montery highways!!
